A note from Margaret

- I am so immensely grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the CAPC and CPNP community in Ontario for the past 30 years.   What a privilege to be able to engage in work that has been so meaningful, to be able to do that with such dedicated colleagues, and to know that we have made - and will continue to make - important contributions to children, families and communities across Ontario. I am looking forward to retirement but will miss you all.

margaretleslieAfter 37 years at Mothercraft, Margaret Leslie will retire on December 31, 2023.  Margaret has dedicated her years at Mothercraft to promoting infant/early childhood mental health and well-being through prevention and early intervention services for young children and their families.  Since 1993, she has been instrumental in the development and implementation of Mothercraft’s CAPC program, Breaking the Cycle, which was recognized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime as a best practice program serving pregnant and parenting women with substance use problems.  In 2001, she supported the successful application for funding for Mothercraft’s CPNP program, the BTC Pregnancy Outreach Program.  She has led the national replication of Breaking the Cycle’s group intervention for mothers and children experiencing interpersonal violence (Connections), which has is now being delivered in CAPC and CPNP projects across Canada.  She has delivered training, developed resources, informed policy, and  served as a member of the Ontario CAPC/CPNP Network, as a Central Zone committee member, and as the sponsor agency lead for FASD ONE until 2017.
