Invitation: WAGE GBV Knowledge Centre Webinar – Information Session on the iHEAL app
On November 27, 2023, from 1-2:30pm ET, in connection with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Women and Gender Equality Canada’s (WAGE) Gender-Based Violence Knowledge Centre, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and iHEAL are hosting an information session and live demonstration of the soon-to-be-launched iHEAL app.
Over 40% of women in Canada experience intimate partner violence at some point in their lives, and there are often barriers to finding help and resources. The path to becoming safer and healthier is not the same for all people who experience gender-based violence, however web-based support and mobile apps have been shown to have benefits, including improving health, safety and well-being.
The iHeal App, funded in part by the PHAC and WAGE, is an evidence-based, Canadian-made digital resource that provides personalized resources and ways to stay safe and be well for women who have previously or are currently experiencing intimate partner violence.
During this information session, participants will hear from the founders of the iHEAL app as they explain why it was developed, how it will benefit women in Canada, as well as learn about how it can be used by survivors, family and friends, co-workers, and service providers. The iHEAL app is available for download. We encourage you to check it out before the event.
