Current status of the CAPC/CPNP renewal
- The most recent evaluation of CAPC and CPNP confirmed the ongoing relevance and positive impacts of the programs, but also highlighted mounting challenges and potential opportunities for PHAC to strengthen the programs.
- PHAC is continuing to consider feedback from engagement, which will be used to inform and finalize the approach to this renewal, including consideration for Indigenous recipients.
- PHAC is committed to Reconciliation and wants to have meaningful, respectful conversations about our proposed changes to renew our health promotion approach for the current context, after almost 30 years. Conversations will inform the details of implementing the new approach with our recipients, including Indigenous partners.
- In the meantime, current CAPC and CPNP funding agreements across Canada are being extended until March 31, 2026. During this period, PHAC will continue to communicate any new updates and engage program partners to ensure that the new approach builds on the successes of the programs to date.
- The extension of contribution agreements until 2026 will provide additional time to pursue further engagement and explore considerations, including regional differences and approaches.
- PHAC will consider options with our Indigenous partners to better support funded Indigenous organizations, such as providing more flexibility in funding agreements and to reduce administrative burden, among others.
PHAC hopes to share more details in the coming days regarding the CAPC/CPNP funding and renewal.
